Meet the current mothers of the Helene Foundation and learn a little bit about how we are helping their families.

Tanika

A single mother of four children, Tanika is a breast cancer warrior! The Helene Foundation has been providing house cleaning, assistance with transportation costs, and meal delivery from Schwan’s for her family!

Natasha

Natasha is a single mother of one child, and is in treatment for breast cancer. The Helene Foundation is providing bi-weekly meal delivery from Schwan’s, assistance with transportation costs, and a one-time gift card to a local store to purchase clothes for her growing child. Prior to her surgery, we helped bring her mobile phone bill up to date with a one time payment, so she could stay in touch with her child’s caregiver when she had surgery.

Liz

The mother of three children, Liz is currently in treatment for breast cancer. The Helene Foundation is paying for bi-weekly house cleaning, monthly assistance with transportation costs, as well as monthly gift cards to Food Lion.

Jennifer

A single mother of one young son, and is in treatment for breast cancer. The Helene Foundation is providing Schwan’s meals, assistance with transportation costs, and funds to help with pest control for her home.

Jennifer

A mother of three children, Jennifer is a breast cancer warrior. The Helene Foundation is helping with transportation to and from her treatments. We have also set up childcare, so Jennifer can enjoy a night out with her husband!

Endelelia

A mother of two children, Endelia was referred to us after a breast and ovarian cancer diagnosis. The Helene Foundation is sending her monthly gas cards to help with transportation to appointments and treatments. She really enjoys cooking and wants to continue that as much as possible, so we are providing monthly Wal-Mart gift cards for her use.

Karla

Sandy, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, is the single mother of three children. The Helene Foundation is providing assistance with transportation costs, and daily childcare for her youngest, so she can go to her daily radiation appointments, which she shares she would have to discontinue without our help!

Tami

Tami is a single mother of 2 children. The Helene Foundation is providing assistance with transportation costs, and bi-weekly house cleaning. Due to food allergies in the home, the best option was to provide monthly grocery store gift cards. This way she can purchase the food that her family will be able to eat!

Kristi

The single mother of one child and has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She couldn’t afford the cost of her car repair, so we have helped her with that cost. She is in the process of selecting childcare, which we will help with the cost once she has made a selection.

Shamika

A married mother of 5 children, Shamika was originally diagnosed with breast cancer. She has been told that is has metastasized to her brain and bones. The Helene Foundation is providing assistance with transportation costs to her treatments, as well as monthly gift cards to a grocery store.

Alisia

Angela is a single mother of four teenagers, in addition to being a breast cancer warrior.  The Helene Foundation is providing Schwan’s meals, house cleaning, and assistance with transportation costs. Her tires were balding, so we helped her secure 4 new tires for her car.

Nikkita

Nikkita is a single mother of 3 children. She has been diagnosed, and is in treatment for a brain tumor. At the time of her referral, her power was about to be cut off, so while this is outside of our mission, we made the emergency decision to bring her account up to date! We are also providing her monthly gas cards to help with her transporation costs, as well as Wal-Mart gift cards to help, not only with the cost of food, but to purchase some new clothes and coats for her children.

Jessica

Jessica is the young mother of two children. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer and her surgery is scheduled soon. Since she will have lifting limitations after surgery, we are working with a local agency to help with in home care during the day while her partner is at work. We are also sending monthly gas cards to help with transportation costs.

**We are in the process of setting up services for our four newest families from January’s referral cycle.  Those four additional families have a total of 7 children.
